Early Dinner in Show Low - 8/8/15

We will be eating the early bird dinner at the cattleman's steakhouse in Show Low, AZ. I told them we would arrive at 4PM. We have a private banquet room reserved at no extra cost as long as we have a minimum of 20 souls attending. The early dinner should get us back to the Valley around 9 PM, a far more acceptable time than midnight which has been the case in the past when we had a 6 PM dinner at Charlie Clarks in Pinetop. Show Low is about 30 minutes less driving time than to Pinetop. These details are not published on the club web site as our web man is out of town, so be sure you print and retain this.

We will meet at the Target shopping center in Fountain Hills at 12:45 PM and depart at 1:00 PM and that should get us to Show Low at approximately  4 PM and an opportunity to get away from the Valley heat for a while.

The Target center is on the South side of Shea Blvd at Saguaro Blvd. We meet at the west  end by the Starbucks where refreshments and a restroom are available. We’ll depart at 1:00 PM sharp. Please be on time because the rest of us will be standing around in the heat.  Please arrive with a full fuel tank, your club name tag, and your club radio.

The tour from Payson to Show Low is one of the most scenic and pleasant of the many tours we have been on in the past. The temperatures are substantially cooler, the scenery, ever changing, is awesome and the roads were made for the great handling of our BMW Z Cars. We can always adjust our cruising speed in order to arrive at the designated time. If we’re early, we can also use that time to fill the fuel tanks in Show Low before dinner, we'll call this out on the radio so you will know what the last minute plan is.

It’s about 2 hrs 45 min to the steakhouse with a 15 minute stop at the Mobil station near the Casino in Payson for a comfort break; since almost everyone loads up on Starbucks coffee at the starting point we’re all ready for this early break. Drive north on 87 about 1 mile and turn right on 260 to Show Low. Just outside of Payson to the east is a little town called Star Valley. They have radar traps at both ends of the main drag, do not speed in star valley, it's a guaranteed speeding ticket. Same applies on the return trip.

Depending upon whether we are running on schedule or not, we MAY stop at the Bison Ranch for another comfort break and to kill a little time. This will be called out on the radio one way of the other so please be alert.

Please send me your RSVP even if it’s just a “maybe.
