Club Radio 101
How to speak into your radio so you can
be heard and understood
Often times it's difficult to hear radio transmissions,
especially with the top down and wind noise. Some of us have hearing
issues which make it even worse.
Please follow these rules to
improve on radio communications.
-
Press the send button but
wait 1 second before speaking.
-
Hold the radio/mic 6 to 8 inches from your face.
-
Speak into the mic at a 45 degree angle rather than straight on
(improves quality)
-
Speak SLOWLY and
DISTINCTLY. If you don't, you will be the only one who
knows what you're saying; to the rest of us it's gibberish.
-
Please
DISABLE your
voice-activated mic
if you have this feature. Very often the wind noise activates the
mic and locks up the channel 3 frequency so nobody can talk.
In addition, the conversation with your car mate becomes public, and
this has resulted in some embarrassing incidents in the past.
Please
print this out and keep it in your car with your club
name tag where
it will remind you about the proper use
of the radio.
Thanks for helping out with this.
