June 12, 2021 - DeMarco's Italian Restaurant in Globe Now Little America in Flagstaff

Due to the fires near Globe and the terrible traffic situation along our normal route, the Saturday, June 12th tour has been changed from Globe to the  Little America  restaurant  &  hotel  in  Flagstaff. If needed, phone 1 928 779 7900. The address if you want to enter it in your GPS is: 2525 East Butler Ave. Flagstaff, AZ 86004. There is no guarantee that GPS will direct you to the same roads we are using but should be helpful once you are on the city streets of Flagstaff, helping you to get on Hwy 40 & too the restaurant.

See the link below and look around. We will have a limited menu (see bottom of this message) to select from and billing by couples. Here is a link to Little America in general http://flagstaff.littleamerica.com/

We will meet in Fountain Hills at the Target shopping center, please meet in front of Target, the center is located at Shea Blvd and Saguaro Blvd in Ftn Hills. There are restrooms and Starbucks Coffee available in the store lobby. We will meet no later than 9:00AM and depart at 9:15 AM. Turn right on Shea Blvd out of the parking lot to Hwy 87, then head north on Hwy 87 to Payson (about 45 miles) where we will take a 15-minute comfort break near the casino gas station on your right. We will continue north on highway 87 up the Mogollon rim and to Clint’s Wells where we can stop for another comfort brake if needed, we learned last time we did this tour most of us needed the break because it is a pretty long drive from Clints Wells to Little America. So, it is likely we will make this stop again but listen for updates on the club radio. We’ll pull over at clints wells to the large, paved, right-hand road shoulder while we wait for everyone to take their comfort break.

Departing Clints Wells, we’ll make a left turn in ¼ mile and pick up Hwy 89A toward Flagstaff. Hwy 89A is also known as Lake Mary Road.  WHEN YOU DEPART CLINTS WELLS,  DO NOT DRIVE STRAIGHT AHEAD AND TAKE HWY 87 TO WINSLOW.

We'll head Toward Happy Jack, Mormon Lake, Lake Mary and Flagstaff on Hwy 87A. As we arrive in Flagstaff from the southeast, we will be on Lake Mary Road and after passing under the overpass we'll be making a right-hand turn after the overpass that will take us to Interstate 40, you will then be on the city surface streets for a short distance. There is not much advance warning after the "40" sign so go slowly as you search it out, a small sign on your right. You will be turning to the right again, up the “on” ramp and then you will be heading toward the Albuquerque directional signs which is Hwy 40, so look for and follow them, it comes up quickly, You’ll be on a long right hand 180-degree curved road directing you to Hwy 40 & Albuquerque. Then in about 3 miles look for signs on the right that say, "little America"  ( exit # 198 is the correct off ramp, Butler Ave.) and that is where you get off. Little America will be down that road a short distance straight ahead, the complex & parking lot is on your right. Go in the main entrance and the restaurant will be to your right, down the large hallway. Stop at the desk and tell them you are part of the BMW car group and you will be seated in our reserved area. The manager’s name is Danny if you need it.

Please have a full fuel tank at the start and remember to bring your club radio, your club name badge & this route guide. We can get fuel at Little America before or after lunch for the return trip. There are a few different routes to return to the Valley, the same way we went up or take I 17 all the way home or you can take Oak Creek Canyon down to Sedona and from Sedona there are two alternate routes, consult your state map which we recommend you bring with you on every club tour.  we can discuss this toward the end of the luncheon and everyone is free to pair up with whomever they wish and select whatever route you prefer. In any case, this is usually a full day of driving (which is a good thing because that’s what the club is all about) We look forward to seeing everyone.
