Salt River Canyon Tour - 10/22/19 - 10/23/19

This will be a weekday drive starting on Tuesday October 22nd and returning home Wednesday Oct 23rd.

We will be coming home via the Coronado trail.  This is a 2-day, one-night tour up through the Salt River Canyon to Whiteriver which is about 10 miles south of Show Low. There are some interesting things to see there and we'll also have our lunch in Whiteriver. We'll proceed to the hotel to check in and that info will be sent to you later. There are various stores available for shopping for junk made in China (ha,ha). We'll have a group dinner and then Wednesday morning drive south on the Coronado Trail (Devil's Highway) We'll have lunch in Safford and continue back to the Valley.

All the missing details are below:

Our club Vice President, Mike Hunt, and other members put lots of effort into these documents; please read ALL of this information and bring a copy with you.

Regarding the hotel, you should have the following information in advance so you don't get an unpleasant surprise if you cancel your reservation:

  • The Tal-Wi-Wi lodge has a strange cancellation policy which folks might want to know about before they book their room. They charge your credit card for 50% of the room rate at the time of booking. However, if you cancel the reservation, they will refund all but 15% of the room rate. Room rates vary from $105 to $148 depending on whether or not you get a room with a fireplace and/or Jacuzzi.

  • Alternative lodging options include the Alpine Inn or Sportsman's Lodge in Alpine, and any of a number of hotels in nearby Springerville/Eagar.

Day two: The reservations are made at the Safford Manor House Restaurant for about 20 people in the name of our club at 12:30p on 10/23/19. I spoke with Kaley today and the manager is Deborah. Their number is 928.428.7148.

Please email me your RSVP in a timely manner so I'll have the head count for the restaurants and hotel.
