Oak Creek by way of Payson and Flag - 04/16/11
The April club tour will be on Saturday April 16th. The destination in a round about way will be Oak Creek Canyon by way of Payson and Flagstaff.
Here's the agenda for the April tour. We will meet in Fountain Hills at the Target shopping center at 8:15 AM Please meet toward the West end near the Starbucks. The center is located at Shea Blvd and Saguaro Blvd in Ftn Hills. We will depart at 8:30 AM and head north on Hwy 87 to Payson where we will take a 15 minute comfort break near the casino and gas station. We will continue on north on 87 up the rim and to Clint's Wells, then on to Happy Jack, Mormon Lake and Lake Mary and Flagstaff. If anyone needs a comfort break we will try to fit it in somewhere along the route. We will fill up with fuel in Flagstaff and then pick up Hwy 89A south, which is the Oak Creek Canyon road. The Junipine lodge will be on your right just past Junipine Creek, or, just follow the Z in front of you. http://www.junipine.com/
You may need a light jacket if you plan to have the top down, not sure what the April temperatures are for Flagstaff. Please have a full fuel tank at the start and remember to bring your club radio.
