Mount Lemon (Tucson) - 4/10/10
The club will be touring to Summer Haven on Mount Lemmon in Tucson. The date is Saturday, April 10th.
The April event will be held on Saturday April 10th. Please be aware we are meeting at a location other than the one where we usually meet for our Tucson drives. Here is a link to the tour guide prepared by Mike Hunt.
We will meet at 8:15 AM and depart at 8:45 AM
We're meeting at HWY 60 (the freeway) and Tomahawk Road, exit 197.
As you exit the freeway at exit 197, turn left (North) on Tomahawk. There is a service station/convenience store on the right just after you pass beneath the freeway. I don't remember the brand name but it is the only service station there. Please have a full fuel tank at the start of the tour.
We are still working out the lunch options and you will be informed as soon as we make the decision. The options are to eat at a restaurant in Tucson before we climb the hill to Summerhaven, or, pack a lunch and eat at the top of the mountain.
There will be the usual comfort stops and fuel breaks as needed. It is important you have your club radio along so you won't be left out of spontaneous decisions or changes in the plan. Probably a good idea to bring a jacket, it could be cool at Summerhaven which is 8200 above sea level. Here is a link if you care to check it out and here is another.
