ARIZONA BMW
Z SERIES Club
Club tour on Saturday, November 14 to Oracle
We will meet at Goldfield Road off
Interstate 60, the off-ramp # is 198. You will see a Chevron station
about 100 yards to your right, our meeting place. Please arrive at 9:30
AM and we will depart at 9:45 AM.
Our
destination will be the Orehouse Hilltop Tavern and Café in Oracle. This
tour will take us south where we will not have to worry about bad
weather.
The scenery on highways 77and 177 are picture
post card stuff. This is truly a beautiful drive, and I am sure the meal
at the Orehouse Tavern will be very good; we have eaten there
previously.
Here is their phone number in the event you
need it Ph: # 520 896 3334 The address is 1200 North Jefferson
Drive Oracle AZ 85623 You can use this in your GPS.
Depart from the
Chevron station and we will take highway 60 to Globe where we will stop
at the gas station and convenience store near the far east end of the
city. The name of the station has changed but just follow me. We will
take a 15- or 20- minute comfort break and fuel up if you need it. This
first stop from Goldfield Road to Globe is about 70 miles.
We will head east
out of Globe on Highway 60 and in just a short distance turn right on
Highway 77 south. It will be approximately 70 miles to the next turn
which is American Way in Oracle. Turn left on American Way and follow it
to Jefferson Drive. You will see a sign on your left and there may be a
sign there directing us to the Tavern.
Following our stay in Oracle we will
backtrack our route on highway 77 approximately 40 miles to the town of
Winkelman, where we will pick up highway 177 north through the towns of
Hayden, Kearny, Riverside, Kelvin and finally into Superior. From
Superior, we will head west on highway 60 for a return to Phoenix. If
you need fuel, you can get it in Winkelman. Here is an option for
returning to the valley: depart Oracle on American Hwy west to Hwy 77
and drive west to junction 77 and 79, take 79 north to Florence, and
from there you will do your own navigation to arrive home.
Please arrive with a full fuel tank, club name tag, and bring your club
radio along with a copy of this route guide.
Remember
to bring along your Baofeng radio and a copy of this tour guide. We have
a loaner radio if you need it.
As always, I will need your
RSVP for the restaurant head
count, please be prompt with this.
Thank you,
Paul
