Durango Tour Now 9/10/18

Here is the
draft of the
Durango tour. You will notice we avoid major
events on weekends so whatever we do or wherever we go it will be less
Please review this itinerary and
email me to let me know what you
think of it; we're open to suggestions. The Hampton Inn said I should
block book rooms no later than 7 days from now.
These dates are still within their "tourist
season" so let's not expect any reductions in expenses other than the
group pricing they extend us at the Hampton Inn.
Monday, Sept. 10
A 440 Mile drive to Durango. Leave at 8:30
AM from Albertsons. See attached Route Guide
Group dinner at the Palace 7:00
Tuesday, Sept 11
Free day. A list of potential activities,
attached, was sent to all club members in April. Great day for the train
ride, Zip Line, etc
DAY 3 Wednesday, Sept 12
We will Drive the
SAN JUAN LOOP 240 Miles
(Ouray, Telluride, Dolores, etc.)
We will leave the hotel parking lot at 8:30 AM. See Route Guide
No Dinner Plans, you’re
on your own, have fun! Either Wed or Friday evening, some of us may
order Pizza and adult beverages and sit on the patio at the Hampton.
we did this 2 years ago and everyone had a
DAY 4 Thursday,
A “free day” but an
is planned to Pagosa Springs and Wolfe Creek Pass. For those
interested, we will meet in the hotel parking lot and depart
at 9:00 AM. We will take Hwy 550 south to Hwy 160 & then east to
Pagosa Springs (60 miles). After a brief comfort break, we will
continue on Hwy 160 up Wolfe Creek Pass. (23 Miles). On the way to
the top, we will stop at Treasure Falls
Scenic outlook. After
reaching the top of Wolfe Creek Pass we will head back to Pagosa Springs
for lunch., there is nothing to do or see at the top. Arrangement have
been made for our group to eat lunch at the
Riff Raff restaurant on the Rio. 356 E.
Pagosa. After lunch we
will head back to Durango.
Dinner is pre -scheduled at the Strater Hotel.

DAY 5, Friday, Sept
“Free Day. “ There will be a drive to Silverton
and then back to Purgatory for those folks who are
interested, we will be leaving the hotel parking lot 9:30. This will
give us a chance to look around in Silverton and we'll probably head
back to Purgatory for lunch. They have a great restaurant with either
indoor or outdoor seating.
No dinner plans, you're on your own.
Saturday, Sept 15
Return trip to AZ. Route Guide will be
